A petite and expressive temple fragment from 12th-century Nepal, likely depicting Vishnu or a related deity. This intricately carved head was once part of a larger temple sculpture and retains a remarkable presence despite its small scale. The serene expression, tiered crown, and large circular earrings are characteristic of Himalayan depictions of divine figures, particularly Vishnu. Carved from dark stone and mounted on a modern black wood base, the piece shows a heavily weathered surface and worn edges that speak to centuries of exposure. The head is affixed to the stand at a central pivot point. While it swivels slightly, it remains secure and stable for display. An evocative piece, ideal for adding a sense of sacred history to a bookshelf, altar, or tabletop vignette. Heavy patina, pitting, and wear consistent with age. Loss to reverse and edges. The head is attached to the base at a single pivot point and can swivel slightly, but it is stable. The black base has a couple of minor imperfections visible in the pictures. Overall dimensions are about 1.5” wide, 2” deep, and 3.25” high. The tiny head sculpture is about 1.5” wide, 2” deep, and 2.25” high. The stand is 1.5” by 1.5” by 1” high.
