Framed batik acrylic artwork titled Forest Deep by artist Louise "Lou" Wilson. The composition depicts a dense forest scene rendered in layered shades of brown, olive green, ochre, cream, and muted blue-gray. The batik technique creates irregular lines, areas of resist, and tonal variations throughout the image, giving the wooded landscape a textured, organic appearance. Batik is a resist-dyeing technique traditionally used on fabric in which wax or another resist material is applied to selected areas before color is added. The resist prevents color from penetrating those areas, allowing artists to build layered patterns, lines, and tonal variations through repeated applications. In this work, the batik process contributes to the irregular lines, mottled color, and textured appearance of the forest scene. An original label on the reverse identifies the work as "FOREST DEEP," lists the medium as "Batik Acrylic," credits "Lou Wilson," and includes the reference number P-206.The artwork is presented under glass with a wide neutral mat and a narrow brown frame accented with gold-tone trim.
